For all of you who have to move art around, in boxes packed with peanuts, you might be interested in an idea my wife had. Peanuts are a great way to protect your art but they have a tendency to escape and are not biodegradable. Yes, you can buy those corn based peanuts that break down in water, but they are hard to find and kind of expensive. Besides, you probably already have bags of peanuts laying around and you probably get more every time you have something shipped to you. So until retailers wise up and start using biodegradable peanuts here is an idea that might help you put those peanuts to good use without destroying the environment. The solution is to put your peanuts in dry cleaning bags. 1. Get a dry cleaning bag. 2. Tape one end closed and tape up any holes. 3. Fill with peanuts but not very much as you want to leave space for them to move around. 4. Squeeze out extra air and see if you have the right number to make a firm but flexible bag. 5. Seal open end with tape.
