In an attempt to improve both the natural environment, as well as my own, all of my art contains 100% post consumer paper. In other words, it is made from junk mail, office waste and damaged/outdated books. The only paper that is not used is high gloss. Additionally, when ever possible I have switched to the most environmentally/ health friendly products available. Currently, I use artist grade paints and non-toxic paints when available. I have also changed from solvent based protective coatings to water based coatings are that low in VOC (volatile organic compounds and HAPS (hazardous air pollutants). Additionally, all of my glues and adhesives are non-toxic and water based. For example, I use a binding agent to create the paper mache and the glue used is either wheat paste or Elmers glue. |
